Meet the Principal

Mitch Dubinsky was appointed Westmoor Principal in July 2026.

A dedicated educator with 25 years of experience, Mr. Dubinsky brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for fostering excellence and building relationships. A lifelong learner, he has worked in leadership roles at the school and district levels. Mr. Dubinsky also lives in the District 28 community.

He comes to District 28 from Community Consolidated School District 89, where he has worked as an elementary school principal for the past 15 years. He has also worked as an Assistant Principal and Bilingual/ELL Coordinator in River Trails District 26. He started his career in education as an elementary school teacher in East Maine School District 63. 

Mr. Dubinsky holds a master’s degree in Reading Literacy from Northern Illinois University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Northeastern Illinois University.

Mr. Dubinsky is an avid collector of professional athletes’ autographs — each one obtained in person rather than purchased. Over the years, he has had the opportunity to meet athletes such as Muhammad Ali, Joe DiMaggio, Walter Payton, Monica Seles, Frank Thomas, Michael Jordan, and many more. He also has an extensive bobblehead collection!
